Advanced IPL for Body Pigmentation, Sun Damage & Uneven Skin Tone
Body pigmentation can be just as noticeable and persistent as pigmentation on the face.
Stellar M22™ XPL is the latest generation of IPL technology developed by Lumenis — the inventors of IPL. Using advanced Expert Pulse Light (XPL™) technology, it delivers controlled light energy to target unwanted superficial pigmentation and visible sun damage across larger areas of the body.
At Lanreé Aesthetics, Stellar M22™ XPL Body treatments are designed for clients looking to improve the appearance of sun spots, freckles, patchy pigmentation, uneven skin tone and overall skin clarity on areas such as the back, chest, décolletage, arms and legs.
The result is gradually clearer, brighter and more even-looking body skin.
What Can Stellar M22™ XPL Body Improve?
Stellar M22™ XPL Body may be suitable for:
- Sun spots
- Freckles
- Superficial pigmentation
- Visible sun damage
- Uneven or patchy skin tone
- Age-related pigmentation
- Dull-looking body skin
- Areas with multiple scattered brown spots
- Overall body skin brightening and photorejuvenation
A consultation is recommended to determine whether your pigmentation is suitable for XPL treatment.
Popular Treatment Areas
Stellar M22™ XPL can be used across a range of body areas, including:
Back
For scattered pigmentation, freckles, sun spots and uneven-looking skin across the upper or full back.
Chest & Décolletage
Ideal for visible sun damage, freckles, pigmentation and uneven tone caused by long-term UV exposure.
Arms
For patchy pigmentation, sun-related spots and uneven-looking skin tone.
Thighs & Calves
For suitable superficial pigmentation and areas of uneven body skin tone.
Treatment areas and suitability will be assessed individually before treatment.
How Does Stellar M22™ XPL Treat Body Pigmentation?
Stellar M22™ XPL delivers carefully controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light into the skin.
The light energy is absorbed by melanin within superficial pigmentation, generating controlled thermal energy within the targeted pigment.
Following treatment, pigmentation may initially appear darker or more noticeable. Over the following days, the treated pigment gradually breaks down and may naturally fade or shed as the skin renews.
Because XPL settings can be adjusted according to the treatment area, skin type and pigmentation pattern, each treatment is individually customised.
Why Choose Stellar M22™ XPL for Body Pigmentation?
Latest-Generation XPL™ Technology
Stellar M22™ features Expert Pulse Light technology developed by Lumenis, the company behind the original IPL technology.
Designed for Larger Treatment Areas
Body pigmentation is often spread across larger areas rather than appearing as a single spot. XPL allows efficient treatment of areas such as the back, chest, arms and legs.
Customised Treatment
Different body areas and pigmentation patterns require different approaches. Treatment parameters are individually selected according to your skin type, pigmentation and treatment area.
Minimal Downtime
Unlike ablative resurfacing treatments, XPL does not remove the surface of the skin. Most clients can return to normal daily activities shortly after treatment, although temporary redness and darkening of pigmentation can occur.
More Than Spot Treatment
Rather than targeting only individual dark spots, XPL can be used across an appropriate treatment area to improve the appearance of overall uneven pigmentation and sun-damaged skin.
Skin Type & Treatment Suitability
Stellar M22™ XPL Body Pigmentation treatment is generally best suited to Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–IV.
For Fitzpatrick Skin Type V, treatment suitability requires an individual skin assessment. This is because the safety and suitability of XPL can depend on several factors, including your natural skin tone, the severity and depth of pigmentation, the treatment area and your individual skin condition.
For clients with Skin Type V or deeper, more complex body pigmentation, we may recommend our Duo Body Pigmentation Laser instead.
Duo Body Pigmentation Laser combines advanced laser technologies and may be a more suitable option for certain darker skin tones and pigmentation patterns.

Our technicians will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate treatment option based on your individual pigmentation and skin type.
What Happens After Treatment?
Immediately after treatment, the area may appear pink or red and feel warm, similar to mild sun exposure.
Pigmented areas may temporarily become darker before gradually fading or shedding.
Depending on your individual skin response and the intensity of treatment, temporary redness may remain for several days.
It is important to:
- Avoid excessive heat and strenuous exercise immediately after treatment
- Avoid direct sun exposure
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF to exposed treatment areas
- Avoid picking or exfoliating darkened pigmentation
- Follow the aftercare instructions provided by your technician
Individual skin responses vary.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The number of treatments required depends on the type, depth and amount of pigmentation, the treatment area and your individual skin response.
For body pigmentation, we generally recommend a course of approximately 3–6 treatments.
More persistent or widespread pigmentation may require additional sessions.
Treatments are generally spaced approximately 3–4 weeks apart, depending on the area and your skin response.
Results are progressive and vary between individuals. No specific result can be guaranteed.
Is Stellar M22™ XPL Suitable for All Pigmentation?
Stellar M22™ XPL is primarily designed to target superficial pigmentation and visible sun damage.
Not every type of body pigmentation responds in the same way. Pigmentation associated with deeper pigment, hormonal factors, chronic inflammation, friction or certain medical conditions may require a different treatment approach.
For this reason, Lanreé Aesthetics offers multiple technologies for body pigmentation, including Stellar M22™ XPL and Duo Body Pigmentation Laser, allowing us to recommend the most appropriate treatment after assessing your skin.
Important Information
Treatment suitability depends on your skin type, pigmentation, treatment area and recent sun exposure.
Stellar M22™ XPL may not be suitable for recently tanned or sun-exposed skin, certain medications or medical conditions, or some types of deeper pigmentation.
For darker skin tones, particularly Fitzpatrick Skin Type V, an individual assessment is required before determining whether XPL is appropriate.
A consultation and skin assessment may be required before treatment.
Results and skin responses vary between individuals.
